Google Nexus X - Features

The 319 pound device will go on sale in November, and will also be the first device to feature Google's new 'Play Music Service,' the Telegraph reports.

According to the paper the service will allow users to synchronise up to 20,000 tracks they already own with any internet-connected device as well as buy tracks online in the same way that they can from Apple iTunes.
Google also announced the Nexus 4 mobile phone, made with LG, features a 4.7" screen, wireless charging and an enhanced camera.

According to the paper, the advanced camera allows users to create immersive panoramas covering all the angles they can see, in the same manner as Google's Streetview service.

Google Nexus 10 Bests iPad's Retina Display

The Nexus 7 is a new version of the Asus-made Nexus 7 that's been available since June. Really the only thing that's different is the amount of storage available and the price. Google upped the possible max storage to 32 GB. The 16-GB Wi-Fi version costs $199, the 32-GB Wi-Fi version costs $249 and the 32-GB Wi-Fi and HSPA+ costs $299.
The Nexus 10 is a brand new tablet manufactured from Apple-foe Samsung. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Samsung is hoping to appeal to consumers who lust after the Retina Display on Apple's iPad. The iPad 3 and 4 have 9.7-inch displays with 2048 x 1536 pixels.

Google Nexus 10 tablet features
Google announced a handful of new Nexus-branded products Monday, including the Nexus 4 smartphone, and the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets. With its new lineup of Nexus gear, Google is prepared to battle Apple for consumers' holiday dollars over the coming months.
The Nexus 4 is in fact a rebadged version of LG's Optimus G. It's a fine smartphone, and perhaps the best ever made by LG. Its best features are the incredible 1280 x 768 HD, 4.7-inch display; quad-core Snapdragon processor; and killer 8-megapixel camera. It is going to be sold unlocked, without carrier contracts for the extremely low price of $299. It can be purchased directly from Google starting November 13.

Best Windows 8 Hidden Features

Windows 8 is full of awesome features and handy shortcuts, but what you may not know is that it's got a lot of handy, lesser-known settings under the hood. Here are 10 of Windows 8's best kept secrets.

10. Run Automatic Maintenance on a Schedule

Windows 8 Hidden FeaturesWindows 8 has a new feature that runs automatic maintenance tasks like software updates, security scanning, and other diagnostic tests daily. By default, it runs them at 3AM, of if you're using your computer, the next time your computer becomes idle. You can change this time in the Action Center, as well as tell Windows whether you want to wake your computer up to perform these tasks. You can also perform the maintenance manually from the Action Center, if you desire.

9. Customize the Apps in the Search Bar

When you start searching from the Start screen, you'll see a list of apps under the search bar. Click on one of them, and you'll search those same terms in that specific app. What you may not know is that you can tweak this list, removing and adding apps through Windows 8's settings. Bring up the Charms bar (with Win+C), click Settings, and go down to "Change PC Settings." From there, choose Search from the left sidebar, and turn off the apps you don't want taking up space in this menu.

8. Enable the Hidden "Aero Lite" Theme

Windows 8 Hidden FeaturesWhen Windows 8 was in the testing phases, it had an additional "Aero Lite" theme that took away some of the transparent glass features of Windows Aero. However, the final version of Windows 8 opted for a much more basic theme than the testing builds, so Aero Lite no longer shows up—however, you can still find it in the Themes folder on your computer. With a few small tweaks, you can re-enable it in your Personalization preferences. It isn't too different from the default themes, but it does give a slightly different look to the title button bars and some other small parts of the OS.

7. Enable the Secret Start Screen Animation

Windows 8 Hidden FeaturesWhen you first sign onto Windows 8, you get a very cool flow-y animation of all your tiles filling up the screen. After that, though, the Start screen has a much more toned-down animation. If you want to enable the cooler animation for every launch of the Start screen, you can do so with a simple Registry tweak. You can also customize certain settings for the animation too, which is pretty cool.

6. Customize More Icons in Windows Explorer

Windows 8 Hidden FeaturesRemember in Windows 7, when you created a library, it had that ugly, nondescript icon? And you had to go through somecomplicated process to change it? Well, Windows 8 now lets you customize your Library icons right from its settings. Just right-click on the Library, go to Properties, and you should see the option to change the library's icon right at the bottom. Bonus tip: If Windows Explorer's Favorites icon is getting in your way in the sidebar, you can right-click on the sidebar to hide it (sadly, you can't do the same for Libraries, Homegroup, or other annoying icons).

5. Create and Name App Groups on the Start Screen

When you first open up the Start screen, you'll notice that some of your apps are in their own "groups." You can create your own groups just by dragging an app's tile to an empty space on the Start screen—it'll create its own group. If you want to name your groups—say, for "Work," "Games," and so on—you can do so by clicking the small button in the bottom-right corner of the screen and right-clicking on the groups.

4. Take Faster Screenshots

For a long time, Windows had an absurd screenshot shortcut in which you had to press Print Screen, then open up an app like Paint or the GIMP and paste in your screenshot from the clipboard. Well, no more! Now, if you press Win+Print Screen (or Win+Volume Down on a tablet), Windows will take a screenshot of your screen and automatically save it in your Pictures folder as a PNG file. It still isn't as powerful as something like Skitch, but if you only need the occasional screenshot, it's nice to see a simpler shortcut built in to the OS.

3. Tweak the Number of Rows on the Start Screen

Windows 8 Hidden FeaturesBy default, the Start screen fills your monitor up with as many rows of tiles as it can fit, up to 6 rows. If you'd like to lower that number—maybe you have a particularly cool background, or your groups just aren't that big—you can tweak this number by editing the Registry. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to let you pack more tiles onto smaller monitors, but it's a cool little tweak if you want to give your Start screen a more minimal look.

2. Hide Recent Files from Your Jump Lists

Jump Lists were a great addition in Windows 7 that helped boost your productivity, but their "Recent Items" feature were a possible privacy concern—say, if there were documents or files you didn't want others to know you had viewed. Windows 8 lets you customize Jump Lists more than Windows 7, giving you the option to hide recently opened items and recently opened programs. To access the preferences, just right-click on the Taskbar, go to Properties, and click the Jump Lists tab.

1. Get More Out of Your Multiple Monitors

If you have multiple monitors, you've probably noticed that Windows extends your taskbar across both screens. It does more than just that, though: you can press Win+PgUp to move your current app to your left monitor, and Win+PgDn to move it to the right monitor. In addition, if you go to the Desktop Background section of your Personalization settings, you can right-click on any individual wallpapers and choose which monitor you'd like it to show up on. Of course, if you like things the old way, you can also turn off the dual taskbar in Taskbar Properties.

From Where Can I Download Windows 8

Microsoft today released Windows 8 to the world.

If you have a computer that running either Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may head over to windows.com to buy your own upgrade copy of Windows 8 Pro (Professional) edition for $39.99 (or 1,999 if you are in India). This is an extremely reasonable price and it will stay valid until January, 2013.

Prior to releasing the full version of Windows 8, Microsoft had offered a release preview edition that allowed enthusiasts to evaluate the new software before making the switch. Now that Windows 8 final is available, the release preview edition has been pulled from the Microsoft website.

Would you like to download and try the full edition of Windows 8 on your computer before buying a copy?

That said, if you would like to try out Windows 8 before buying the upgrade pack, here’s an easy way. Go to msdn.microsoft.com, scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll find links to download the 90-day trial edition of Windows 8. Microsoft provides these evaluation copies for developers but even consumers can download them for trying Windows 8.
Download Link

A word of caution though. These are evaluation copies that will expire after 90 days and cannot be upgraded to the final edition. You should therefore create a bootable Windows 8 DVD from the evaluation ISOs and either set them up in a dual-boot environment or, better still, setup a Virtual Machine.

Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Apple used the WWDC keynote to announce more details of Mountain Lion - the next version of its Mac operating system, which is released next month - and iOS 6, the latest update to the operating system that powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. But the most groundbreaking announcement was the new MacBook Pro with a 'Retina' display.
What WWDC demonstrated was how, after several years of rapid expansion into new product areas, Apple’s products are now starting to come together again. Mountain Lion and iOS 6 share plenty of features, particularly the iCloud integration that allows content to flow freely from, say, smartphone to laptop.
Meanwhile, Apple’s MacBooks are starting to show the influence of iOS devices in numerous ways, whether it’s gesture controls on trackpads, high resolution displays or the fact that the computers are more likely to be sealed units, not upgradeable by users once they leave the shop.
Phil Schiller, Apple's product marketing chief, unveils the new MacBook Pro at WWDC in San Francisco.
Phil Schiller, Apple's product marketing chief, unveils the new MacBook Pro
Apple is not the first to do these things but it is doing them with an elegance and simplicity that many of its competitors struggle to imitate.
The screen on Apple's new flagship laptop, the MacBook Pro with Retina display, has to be seen to be believed. At 2880 x 1800 pixels, it can deliver double the screen resolution of the previous MacBook Pro and the difference is like putting on a pair of glasses for the first time.
Text looks as if it is printed onto the glass and pictures are extraordinarily sharp. There will be plenty who say that you don't need this kind of resolution but once you have tried it, you won't want to give it up.
Photographers and video editors will find the resolution especially useful. The screen can display a full 1080 video image and still have three million pixels to spare, meaning that tasks that used to require a much larger screen are now practical on a laptop of this size.
The screen has fewer reflections than previous models and offers a wide viewing angle. However, many apps will need to be updated to take full advantage of the new resolution and, as with the new iPad, browsing on this machine quickly reveals the low quality of images on most websites.
It is the screen that will grab the headlines but this is a powerful computer too. Its specifications match, and in some areas exceed, those of the standard 15-inch MacBook Pro and yet it is thinner and lighter than the 13-inch model. I've used an 11-inch MacBook Air as my main computer for a year now so this new machine feels like a cinema display sitting in my lap. But it took just a brief comparison with my old 15-inch MacBook Pro to make me realise just how much the machine has slimmed down.
Conversely, after a few hours using the new MacBook Pro, the 11-inch Air then feels impossibly small. Switching between the two machines, as I've been doing for the last couple of days, can be disorientating.
Apple has changed the way it builds its machines in order to make this new slimline Pro possible. The display is built-in to the unibody construction, reducing weight and thickness, while the cooling system uses asymmetrical fans to reduce noise.

Price of 32GB Google Nexus 7 with 3G Leaks Out

Latvian Store 1a started taking pre-orders for the 32GB Google Nexus 7 with 3G connectivity.
The 16GB Google Nexus 7 priced at 169 Latvian Lats(€240 Euro) or $311.45 U.S. Dollars..
The 32GB 3G Google Nexus 7 is priced at 219 Latvian Lats (€312 Euro) or $404 U.S. Dollars.

Expected price of 32GB 3G Model in United States

Now lets take the 16GB model which is priced at $249 at the moment in the Google Play Store (it is expected to drop to $199 when the 32 GB Wi-Fi model launches) and we can see that at $311.45, there is a 25% premium. We remove that premium from the $403.60 and we get a figure closer to $300.

So based on our computation, the 32GB 3G model of the Google Nexus 7 could be priced at about $300 in the United States. That would seem to fit in to the current tablet ecosystem.

Magic Vs Technology - Funny !!

Its an interesting question. What wins in a battle of Magic vs Technology. Sure a lot of people could say "Magic is magic there's just something about it that can't be beaten its mystical." But when you break it down how much different are there results?
I'll use Samus and Master Chief as examples of the technology side.
  • Magic Users can cast multitudes of projectiles. Fire, Ice, Lightning ect.
  • Samus can shoot Plasma, Ice, Wave ect.
  • Magic Users can cast Barriers to protect themselves.
  • Technology can grant advanced armors and shielding. Or even better the Lamda Driver which is a thought based energy shielding system.
  • Magical Abilities are powered by Mana.
  • Technology is powered by Energy/Electricity whatever.
  • Magic Users can use Stat changing abilities making the target stronger.
  • Technology can grant cybernetics, enhancements, steroids, Power Suits.
  • Magic Users can use Stat changing abilities making the target weaker
  • Technology has Chemical Warfare.
  • Magic users can create armies of soliders
  • Technology can clone armies of soliders

  • Magic users can manipulate minds
  • Technology can brain wash and also manipulate minds (Ex. Psi Emitters in Starcraft)
  • Magic users can be Psychic
  • Technology can grasp Psychic enhancements like the Ghosts in Starcraft, Zero System in Gundam Wing ect
To me Magic and Technology are pretty much even. Its just a matter of who posses the superior technology or magical abilities. A fireball to the face or a bullet to the head are both going to kill you. Its not like Magic or Technology is unbeatable anyways. The Zerg proved that when both Terran Technology and Protoss Magic/Technology were soundly defeated.
So lets get a good discussion here a balance on both sides. Pro's and Con's of Magic vs Technology. I think it could be interesting. But then again it might just not get one reply haha.

Acer Iconia Tab A110 Hits The US and Canadian Market On October 30 For $230

Acer has finally announced the pricing and launch date of Iconia Tab A110 for the US and Canadian Market. The Tab will be launching on October 30 and will be priced at $229.99

Acer Iconia A110
Specifications:

  • 7 inch multi touch screen with 1024*600 resolution
  • Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor
  • 7.5 hours of battery life
  • 8 GB internal memory with a microSD card slot,1 GB of RAM
  • Android 4.1
  • Weighs only 390 gm and less than a half inch slim

Bottom Line:
At $230, the 8GB A110 is $30 higher than the Nexus 7 with equal storage, which will be its primary competitor. However, there's a tradeoff: you'll also get an option to expand the storage thanks to the microSD card slot, as well as HDMI out - both of which are lacking on the Nexus 7. With that said, the A110's paltry 1024x600 display can't begin to compare to the N7's 1280x800 screen. That tradeoff may be worthwhile for anyone who has been waiting for another 7" Jelly Bean tablet with a microSD card slot.

Full HD Display in Smartphones Could Go Mainstream Next year

The Mobile Industry always Loves Big Numbers as this is the main criteria which helps them to convince their prospective consumers that this device is better than another.

With the advent of Full HD display(1920*1080) for Smartphones,we could see many smartphones in coming months with Full HD display.

Japanese giant Sharp announced that it’s starting mass-production of 5 inch smartphone displays with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) this month.
At 443 PPI, the new displays have the highest pixel density ever achieved on a smartphone screen.

Japan Display Inc. (JDI) also starts the production of 5.0-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) this month, meaning that they should make it to shelves new devices in 2013.
JDi said that 5.0-inch full-HD, 443 ppi modules can deliver around 2.3 times more information to the user at a time when compared to the 720HD (720x1280 pixels) screens, and that the use of IPS technology provides wider viewing angles than before.

Market Research firm Display Search also said that from the beginning of next year,we could see some smartphones with 400ppi resolution.

How it Starts?
